Tim Villegas
Interim Chief Executive Officer
Tim Villegas is an internationally recognized expert in inclusive education and serves as MCIE's Interim Chief Executive Officer, appointed following the retirement of Carolyn Teigland. In this role, he guides the organization's vision and strategic direction, leading MCIE's work to build the capacity of school districts to include every learner in their neighborhood school. His leadership spans strategic planning, financial stewardship and sustainability, organizational systems, and communications — with a particular focus on scaling MCIE's services to reach more districts without losing fidelity to the mission.
Tim previously served as MCIE's Chief Growth Officer and first joined the organization in 2020 to lead communications. A self-described inclusionist with more than 16 years of experience as a special education teacher, program specialist, and nonprofit leader, he launched the Think Inclusive blog and podcast in 2012, producing over 200 episodes, founded the newsletter The Weeklyish in 2020, and produced the audio documentary series Inclusion Stories in 2023.
Above all, Tim is committed to leading a transparent, sustainable, and genuinely inclusive organization — one that reflects the same values MCIE champions in schools.
